What we do

Education

Curantis Foundation believes that education is a powerful pathway that enables children reach their fullest potential and fully participate in society. We work to transform lives of children by providing scholarships that allow access to quality education services. Sponsor a child this year and restore hope.

Skilling & Entrepreneurship

We aim to skill parents and people with disabilities in the community so that they improve their standards of living. Some of the skills acquired include liquid soap making, candle making, hair dressing, art and crafts. We hope to run a saving and loans scheme where participants save money off their earnings.

Health

Our aim is to provide comprehensive, compassionate and innovative care to children and PWD’S to lead a healthier life. We will offer health and wellness education, diseases and condition education.

Outreaches

We have been able to impact Children With Disabilities in Seeta – Mukono and Makindye in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

We donated balls, scholastic materials, food, clothes, and shoes among others.

We continuously work directly with communities, assessing their needs and then guiding them to appropriate resources.

PROGRAMS

ADULT LITERACY

Without adult literacy, it is not possible to have range and speed of economic and social development that makes it worthwhile in terms of values and welfare.

In honor of the 2030 Agenda, we birthed this programme to provide a second chance for those who are poor in society or who never got the chance to access formal education in their early stages in life in order to achieve social justice and equal access to education.

Aims

To prepare individuals so that they may perform multiple functions participating in the life of their community. To bring new hope for the illiterate masses who failed to get education during their school years.

US FOR THEM

Menstrual health is a largely over looked aspect of development but if addressed enables girls to better deal with menstruation and acts as a starting point for discussions around Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights. When girls can better deal with their menstrual needs, they can go to school longer and contribute to their communities in more productive ways.

We shall collaborate with schools for integration of this programme. Students will be engaged in knowledge sharing and discussion about menstruation. Specific tools and awareness – raising materials will be developed for these purposes.

All students will be sensitized on menstrual health and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights through peer-to-peer learning. To this end, youth leadership training for adolescent girl students will be undertaken and CHUM (friend) clubs in these schools will be established.

The female students participating in these clubs will receive and be trained on how to use menstrual hygiene management kits by healthcare professionals.

School staff and support staff will be trained on menstrual health.

Our approach to menstrual health education is designed to create the conditions for girls to stay in school throughout menstruation and promote their body integrity.

Why we do what we do

Curantis Foundation saw an urgent call for action against poverty in all its forms. Our work rotates around the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which recognizes that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in –hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and spur economic growth.

Curantis Foundation recognizes that educating children and adults (Goal 4) and reduced inequalities(Goal 10) are vital for communities to achieve higher levels of economic growth and development and as such the work we do mainly is geared towards achieving Goal 4 and Goal 10 of the SDGS.
